Bids were five times what the government expected

Brasília – The Civil Aviation Agency (“Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil – Anac”) took in R$24.5 billion in bids for the airports of Guarulhos (Cumbica), Campinas (Viracopos) and Brasília (JK) at an auction at the São Paulo Stock Market (“Bovespa”). The amount paid for Brazil’s three biggest airports is almost five times what government estimates were.

The new concessionaires will operate the airports for six months, a period that can be extended another six months, together with the state-run Infraero. After that period they will run the airports alone.
