Joćo Kouyoumdjian Brings an International Flavor to NYC

Guitarrist Joćo Kouyoumdjian Tradition and Tendencies

This project is presented and co-sponsored by the Consulate General of Brazil in New York and consists of a solo guitar recital featuring traditional Brazilian repertoire and premiers of pieces by Brazilian composers Raimundo Penaforte and Ricardo Calderoni. João Kouyoumdjian will also receive guest artists Paulo Martelli (guitar), Kathryn Farenish (flute), Marta Kukularova (soprano) and Welson Tremura (guitar).

Praised for his elegant and expressive musicianship by Grammy award winner Sharon Isbin, João Kouyoumdjian is a Brazilian-Armenian guitarist of distinction. In the words of guitar virtuoso Paulo Martelli "João Kouyoumdjian is one of the most extraordinary Brazilian guitarists of his generation. His interpretations always displayed refined sensibility and profound aesthetic meaning."

When: Carnegie Hall for November 28th, 2011 at 8pm.
