I consider myself a woman endowed with inner beauty. I have acquired many wonderful principles from my family and I intend to follow these for the rest of my life.”
How many women dream about becoming a MISS one day? For sure lots of them, but to be a miss is not just being beautiful. It is more than that.
If you want to become a MISS follow some steps: Start at the local level, entering small pageants. There are state, county, city and even festival pageants. While festival pageants may not offer much prize money, they will provide you with the experience you need to compete on the next level. Find a local sponsor or save some money. The pageant circuit is expensive with the cost of coaches, makeup and hair artists, costumes and travel. Get a coach. If you are serious about winning, it's worth the expense. You can bet the girls with trophies lining their walls have coaches. If you don't know where to find one, ask your local pageant director for a recommendation. Pick a platform. The Miss Organization require each contestant to have a platform, or issue, that they are working to promote. Over the years Misses have been spokespersons for homelessness, HIV/AIDS, domestic violence, literacy and many other causes. Contact someone from a local office for your platform cause. For example, if you choose cancer as your platform, contact your local Cancer Society office. Some causes will give you information or support your success in exchange for helping them to promote their cause. Compete in and win the state title. This is your ticket to the Miss America (or other country) pageant. You can compete for the state title more than once. However, in most states, you can represent your state only once in the pageant.
