Mr. Nogueira’s hospital visit will be followed by a press conference at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, where he will discuss his work with Doutores da Alegria.  The press conference is scheduled to begin at 3:30 PM.

“Doctors of Joy was an inspiration for the Brazilian Voices in the creation of our Arts & Healing Program, where we sing to patients and their families at hospitals and nursing homes. The Voices promote well-being through the healing effects of music and joy,” said Loren Oliveira, co-founder of Brazilian Voices. “During Wellington’s visit, we will resume our Arts & Healing workshops and take guidance from his internationally renowned and effective work in hospitals and learn how to apply some of those techniques to our own approach in Arts and Healing.”

“As the first performing arts center to be named as a Brazilian Point of Culture in the United States, the Broward Center is delighted to support this initiative,” said Kelley Shanley, Broward Center President and CEO. “Brazilian Voices was one of the first groups that participated in our Arts in Healthcare program, designed to bring performing arts groups to local hospitals, and they have embraced the idea and continue to volunteer their time to bring music and healing to those who are sick.”
