Miami Dade College honored at the 2010 Brazilian International Press Awards

Miami, April 11, 2010 - The Foreign Languages Program at Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Wolfson Campus will be honored during the 2010 Brazilian International Press Awards ceremony on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale.

Recognized for the outstanding job in teaching Portuguese to the South Florida community, MDC’s Foreign Languages Program was nominated for the award by The American Association of Teachers of Portuguese (AATP), a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote the teaching of Portuguese throughout the U.S.

This is the first such honor for the Wolfson Campus’ Foreign Languages Program.

MDC’s Wolfson Campus offers both credit and non-credit courses in a variety of foreign languages: Spanish, Arabic, Creole, Chinese, French, Farsi, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, and even Yoruba, among others.

Portuguese has been a successful program at the Wolfson Campus Language Center of the School of Community Education, where classes are focused on personal development and language skills acquisition for the workforce.

All classes are taught at the beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. This is especially important with the bourgeoning Brazilian population in the region.

For more information about the Foreign Language Programs at Wolfson Campus, call 305-237-3219 for credit courses or 305-237-3120 for non-credit courses.
