Brazilian band, Orquestra Contemporânea de Olinda starts off it’s American Tour with a free concert at New York’s Lincoln Center Atrium followed by two nights at the club SOB's. They continue their performances in Washington, D.C., Chicago, New Orleans and Miami. The group will also host two workshops in New Orleans.
Percussionist Gilú envisioned the stunning Pernambuco big band by combining the traditional guitar-bass-drums-vocal setup with a brass section. Orquestra Contemporânea de Olinda was nominated for a Latin Grammy in 2009 in the category of Best Tropical Brazilian Roots Album..
