Dominates the agenda of FOCUS–BRAZIL (PMM)

Florida, March 2010 . Overcoming the tough economic scenario for sponsorships and cultural supports, the Focus-Brazil Seminar rose to the highest level of overall attendance, which fills out the seats in most of its panels and parallel events.

Among the many attractions at last year’s Focus-Brazil the highlight was the presence of Ambassador Oto Agri-pino Maia and his team at the Sub-Secretary for Brazilian Communities Abroad of the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Ambassador Maia was at the center of the "Brazilians in the World" panel, which attracted Brazilian community leaders and media outlets from 8 countries and 17 U.S. States.

Enthusiastic about the entire event’s agenda, Ambassador Maia went over his original schedule to take part in almost every panel during the three days of event. He left South Florida naming FOCUS-BRAZIL “the biggest and most relevant Brazilian community and cultural event abroad”, in his own words.

Another big hit for Focus-Brazil was the first edition of “Focus-Brazil Video Fest”, a show case for new video makers. 14 works showed a wide variety of interpretations of the theme “Brazilian views outside Brazil”, and the big winner was “The Cleansing of Bonfim, from Bahia to New York”, directed by Ivy Goulart.

Focus-Brazil had 76 accredited media and individual press representatives from 11 countries, a record, with 51 media outlets present to the event. For the first time the registration on-line surpasses the other alternatives, with 472 out of 811 registered participants.

Focus-Brazil was sponsored by Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs / Consulate General of Brazil in Miami, Dish Network, TV Globo International with special partnership with the   South Florida Point of Culture / Broward Center and Vamos Falar Português Foundation.

The 5th Annual FOCUS-BRAZIL/Brazilian International Culture & Media Seminar  is already set for April 14th, 15th, 16th & 17th, 2010, at The Broward Center for The Performing Arts.
